Alabama Pool and Spa Signs

Alabama's pool safety regulations are designed to prevent accidental drownings and injuries. Key aspects of these regulations include:

  • Fencing: Pools must be enclosed by a fence at least 4 feet high with self-closing and self-latching gates.
  • Supervision: Children must be actively supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  • Safety Equipment: Pools should have readily available safety equipment like life rings and shepherd's hooks.
  • Depth Markers: Clear depth markers must be visible in the pool.

Alabama law doesn't prescribe specific pool safety signage. However, it's highly recommended to display clear and informative signs to promote safe swimming practices. Some common safety messages to include on your custom rules signs are outlined below.

Pool Rules Safety Signs

  • A telephone for emergency use with names and phone numbers of the nearest rescue unit is located at the entrance to the pool.
  • Pool hours XX AM - XX PM
  • No running or boisterous behavior.
  • No diving in shallow water.
  • No glass containers or articles in the pool area.
  • No animals in the pool area except assistance animals on leashes.
  • No animals in the pool.
  • Keep food, drink, containers, wrappers, or other foreign objects out of the pool.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Swimsuits only. No cut-off jeans or other articles of clothing.
  • No hanging on the rope and float.
  • No playing with lifesaving equipment or on lifeguard stand.

Hot Tub and Spa Rules

  • Do not use if temperature exceeds 104-degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Pregnant women and people with health problems should not enter spa without first consulting a doctor.
  • Do not use the spa while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other drugs that cause drowsiness or raise/lower blood pressure.
  • Unsupervised use by children is prohibited.
  • Limit your time in the hot tub/spa to fifteen (15) minutes.
  • No glass in the pool area.
  • No animals allowed in the pool area, excepting service animals.
  • Maximum bathing load XX.
  • Bathers with diarrhea, skin diseases, open lesions, etc. shall be excluded from the pool and spa.
  • Hours of operation XX AM to XX PM.
  • All bathers must shower before entering the spa.
  • No diving or jumping in the hot tub/spa.
  • Do not use lotions or oils before entering the hot tub/spa.
